CRONQUIEST SYSTEM OF CLASSIFICATION

A Cronquiest:-

He was an american botanist. He was a senior curator at new york botanical garden. He presented his classification in 1981 in his book "an Integrated System of Classification of Flowering Plants.

CLASSIFICATION:-

Cronquiest considered pteridosperms as probable ancestor of angiosperm plant.

All angiosperm plant are kept in a division Magnoliophyta this division is divided in to 2 Classes, Elaven sub-classes,  83order ,386 families.  He described 219300 species of angiosperm.

CLASS FIRST:-

This class further divided into 6 sub classes. These sub classes are as follow.

Cronquiest system of classification

CRONQUIEST CLASSIFICATION:-

Sub class magnoliidae from a basial complex from which other sub classes have derived. Hemamelidae is a group of veined pollinated group farm with reduced apetalus flower.

Asteridae:-

Have gamopetalous families an his drived from Rosidae.
Liliopsida has monocot plants it is further divided in to 5 sub classes. Alismatidae has aquatic plants Liliadae has large beautiful flower which are pollinated by insect.
Thus cronquiest have considered that liliopsida is derived from aquatic ancenstor.

Marit and de-marit:-

Marit:-

1) He discribed phyllogeny of a wide range of a characters.
2) He gave synoptic keys for finding out the group of taxon.
3) He gave a Characters to show relationship of order.

De-Marit:-

1) It is not a practical Classification.
2) Number of family are very large.
